Task Analysis

A task analysis is a more informal method of assessment which does not have normative data (ie – data that characterise what is usual in a defined population at a specific point or period of time).  The individual is instead assessed in his/her ability to complete the steps in an activity independently.

In a task analysis, an activity is broken down into small sequential steps.  The child or young person is observed carrying out the task and the ‘examiner’ notes if each step is completed correctly and independently.
